At Simplir we try to keep hard disk drives out of the picture as much as possible. While solid state memory is ideal, it has a high cost to storage space ratio. With that in mind, low cost, bulk storage is critical for many applications.
The Problem In the past, ISP servers were commonly configured with a separate hard drive on each server. This approach adds a point of failure on each of those machines--a highly mechanical point of failure. An additional problem presents itself with capacity. A drive on one machine might be full while there is available capacity on other servers.
The Solution The Simplir™ approach is to combine all of those disks into a single, faster, fault tolerant RAID array that can be shared across the network. Use all of your disk space, and simplify data management and backup with a Simplir SAN or NAS.
