As an ultra-compact, self-contained version of the Air CORE wireless
router/firewall appliance, Air Extension brings a new level of performance.
Air Extension has two 10/100 Ethernet interfaces and one (Air Extension
1) or two (Air Extension 2) 200 mw Wi-Fi radio interfaces.
For wireless extension, use one radio for backhaul and one for Point
to Multi-Point access point broadcast. Air Extension features the
full firewalling, VPN, and other security functionality of our Firewall
Router Blade (FRB). Like the FRB, Air Extension can be operated in
stand-alone mode or thousands of Air Extensions can be managed from
the Simplir Integrated Interface and Control Server Blade (CSB).
From ISP remote extension routers to multi-dwelling units and hotels
, Air Extension is the most flexible, powerful, and simple, service
provider oriented router on the market at any price. With an MSRP
tag under $1300 Air Extension replaces two conventional AP's, a router,
firewall, VPN server, QOS bandwidth manager, and packet sniffer and
converges management of all of those devices into one encrypted, remote,
real-time interface on rugged embeded high MTBF hardware.
Enterprise IT administrators bring the security, convenience and
reliability of Air Extension to their networks as a core network router
for small offices and remote offices. Air Extension creates secure
DMZs and departmental and wireless LANs by providing VPN authentication
and encryption.
In a WISP environment Air Extension is excellent for jumping around
an obstacle to reach a small group of customers. Add an amplifier
and high gain omni-directional antenna for a high-power hot spot or
use with indoor antennas for ultra-secure LAN access points. A basic
configuration uses one radio in the 2.4 - 2.48 GHz band, but in conjunction
with special antenna kits can operate in many licensed bands as well.
In an outdoor environment you can also add any Simplir amplifiers.
The amplifiers are then located at the antenna up to 300 feet away.
The amplifier and DC injector are connected by LMR 400, Coral or 1/2"
Heliax coaxial cable. To finish, the amplifiers are then connected
to high gain omni-directional, directional, or sectoral antennas.
This provides either Primary/Standby Access Points or a Primary Access
Point/Backhaul Radio configuration.
