Air CORE Specifications

Air CORE is a telco grade wired and wireless base station router and security appliance capable of routing between as many as six wireless interfaces in addition to the two 10/100 Ethernet interfaces. Quad port T1 or E1 blades and DS3 blades are available for additional WAN backhaul connectivity. Air CORE is a combination of a Site CORE environment, a Firewall Router Blade, and one or more Wireless Radio Blades (WRB).

Air CORE's basic configuration is one Wireless Radio Blade (WRB). WRB is normally used in the 2.4 - 2.48 Ghz band, but in conjunction with special antenna kits operates in many licensed bands as well. In an outdoor environment you would add a DC injector shelf and two amplifiers. The amplifiers are then located at the antenna up to 300 feet away. The amplifier and DC injector are connected by LMR 400, Coral, or 1/2" Heliax coaxial cable. To finish, the amplifiers are then connected to high gain omni-directional, directional, or sectoral antennas. This provides either cellular-style access points or a primary access point and sniffer antenna configuration.

A fully configured remote site might have three Wireless Radio Blades (WRB) for a total of six radios. Connect three radios to three amplifiers and three 120 degree sectoral antennas for a cellular style access point configuration. A fourth radio and a single omni-directional antenna could provide emergency failover functionality. Two more radios can provide redundant backbone links when amplified, converted to 5.8 GHz and connected to high gain parabolic dish antennas. Add telemetry and alarming for a telco grade site.

Air CORE can be administered stand-alone or from the Control Server Blade's Integrated Interface for large network management.
